Houston Employment Lawyer

Peter Costea

My Experience

Prior to opening my law practice in 1993, I gained valuable experience as a news analyst for the Geneva News and World Report in Geneva, Switzerland. I also lectured for the Department of International Relations at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg in 1989 on public and private international law, Soviet diplomacy and human rights issues.

I received my law degree in 1990 from the University of Houston Law Center after completing my Ph.D. at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in Boston in May, 1989. I also received my master’s degree from the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva in 1986 and my undergraduate degree from Saint Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas, in 1982.

Skilled Representation Based On Practical Experience

Today, I draw on my collective experiences to help my clients defend their rights against employment abuses such as unlawful retaliation, termination, harassment or discrimination in the workplace, wage and hour disputes, and much more. I represent a diverse range of clients, from nurses to retailers to oil and gas employees. I also represent public employees in various grievance procedures and employment litigation, where significant procedural differences require the help of an experienced Houston employment attorney.

My experience as a scholar and working within the academic industry also gives me unique insight in representing professors and others within the academic field regarding their employment rights. Furthermore, my international experience has proven beneficial in handling cases for clients facing employment law matters overseas. In many circumstances, the overlap of U.S. federal law and international legislation, as well as the multiple jurisdictions involved, requires the assistance of a lawyer familiar with the complexities of international employment representation.
